Rayl lets you share a verified summary of your health testing status with people you choose. It reads test results from your own healthcare provider, or from a document you upload for review, and turns them into a simple status.
Rayl is not a dating service, a messaging platform, a testing service, or a healthcare provider. It does not diagnose, treat, or give medical advice.
Rayl is available only to adults. By creating an account you confirm you are at least 18 years old.
A status reflects test results from a period of time. It describes the past. No test can tell you or anyone else their status right now.
Every test has a window between exposure and the point at which infection becomes detectable. Someone infected recently can test negative and still be infectious. A "Clear" status in Rayl means recent testing found nothing — not that a person is definitely uninfected today.
Rayl does not guarantee that any status is accurate, current, or complete. It is one piece of information among several. It is not a substitute for your own judgement, for protection, or for medical care, and you should continue to take the precautions you would otherwise take.
Nothing is shared without an action you take. A handshake requires both people to confirm. Once shared, information cannot be recalled — the other person has seen it. Consider carefully who you share with.
If a healthcare provider result shows you have tested positive, Rayl can notify people you have handshaked with recently that they may have been exposed. Your name is not sent and Rayl does not record who sent an alert.
By using Rayl you accept that you may receive such a notification, and that people you handshake with may receive one arising from your results.
Rayl is not a substitute for public health partner notification services, and receiving or not receiving an alert should not change what you would otherwise do about your health.
If you connect a healthcare provider, Rayl can show whether you have a current PrEP or doxy-PEP prescription. Each is off by default and shown to nobody unless you switch it on.
An indicator confirms that a prescription exists. It does not confirm that the medication is being taken, and it is not a guarantee of protection. PrEP reduces the risk of HIV and not of other infections. Doxy-PEP is taken after sex, so a prescription says nothing about any particular occasion.
Rayl does not show a negative state. An indicator that is off means either that there is no current prescription or that the person has chosen not to show it, and you cannot tell which. Do not treat an indicator that is off as a statement about anyone.
If you upload a document instead of connecting a provider, a trained reviewer reads it before your status changes. Approval is a judgement about the document, not a clinical opinion about you. Rayl may reject a document that cannot be verified, and may decline to change a status where the result does not make clinical sense — for example a negative arriving very soon after a positive one.
Uploading a document that is not your own, or that has been altered, is grounds for immediate removal from the service.
You must not use Rayl to:
Accounts may be suspended or removed for any of these.
You are responsible for keeping your login details secure. You can delete your account at any time from within the app. If you do, your connections are removed, and people you handshaked with will no longer be able to notify you of an exposure.
Rayl shows testing options, which may include free public services and paid partners. Where a partner relationship exists it is labelled. Free options are never ranked below paid ones. Rayl does not provide testing itself and is not responsible for services provided by others.
Rayl is provided as it is, without warranty. It depends on your healthcare provider's systems, which Rayl does not control. Results may be delayed or unavailable. Do not rely on Rayl for urgent health information — contact a clinician.
When these terms change materially you will be asked to accept the new version in the app. Your acceptance is recorded against a specific version.
